Hive Hosting
We Make Beekeeping A Possibility
Through our hive hosting program, we take care of all aspects of hive delivery, set-up, maintenance, and honey extraction for our clients, at our idyllic properties (We Host), or yours (You Host).
Our clients include country-side weekenders, backyard gardeners, city dwellers, small-scale organic farmers, and pretty much anyone who cares about the plight of the bees. Support The Bees
Bees play a critical role in our ecosystem, but are facing the threat of disappearing due to modern agricultural practices, lack of habitat and increasing stressors. The bees habitat is degrading. Industrial insecticides get into the bees’ nectar and pollen and air pollution limits the bees’ ability to find flowering plants.
Over one third of the world’s crop production is pollinated by bees. With the disappearance of bees we face increased food prices and potential global shortages.
Bardon Bees. carefully selects host locations that are best for the bees. We encourage our hosts to plant pollinator gardens and provide a water source for the bees. Our natural approach means working in sync with natural processes. This supports the bees and restores their habitat, working in sync with nature, not against her. We believe our approach supports the bees and is sustainable over the long term.

What do I need to host a hive?
FoodBees collect pollen and nectar from plant flowers as their source of food. Thanks to the many gardens throughout our suburbs having many different plants, bees are often spoiled for choice.
WaterBees need a nearby source of water. Bees collect more than just nectar and pollen. They also gather a whole lot of water. A pond or bird bath is perfect — you don’t want the bees drinking from your neighbours’ swimming pool!
LocationThe hive location has a big impact on how successful it will be. Ideally, the hive should face in a northerly direction and be placed in dappled shade, and be protected from the wind.
Flight path considerationThink about where the bees are likely to go as they leave the hive. You don’t want hundreds of bees flying over the kids’ play area or path to the car park!
